GAC Hyptec A800: New Sedan Integrates Huawei Tech, Starting at $27,500

GAC Hyptec has launched its A800 sedan, a collaboration with Huawei that blends advanced driver-assistance systems (ADS) and a smart cockpit into a mid-to-large vehicle. Priced between $27,500 and $43,400, the A800 aims to compete in the growing segment of tech-focused electric vehicles.

Design and Dimensions

The A800’s design follows GAC Hyptec’s “Mountain and Sea Architecture,” emphasizing a bold, low-profile aesthetic with a 1.31 width-to-height ratio. Its dimensions—5130mm long, 1966mm wide, and 1500mm high with a 3020mm wheelbase—position it as a spacious sedan. Frameless doors contribute to the sleek profile.

Interior Tech and Comfort

Inside, the A800 boasts a wraparound cockpit layout with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a massive 27-inch windshield head-up display (W-HUD), and a central 15.6-inch touchscreen. Active noise cancellation and a 23-speaker ADiGO Sound system enhance the in-cabin experience. The rear seats are configurable, allowing for either four or five-seat arrangements via a “2+1” transforming setup.

Powertrain and Performance

The A800 uses a range-extended system combining a 160 hp 1.5T engine with electric motors. Lower trims offer a single 272 hp rear motor, while the top model features a triple-motor setup delivering 598 hp and sub-4-second 0-100 km/h acceleration. A 35.03 kWh battery provides up to 178km of pure electric range (WLTC). The vehicle includes dual-chamber air suspension and SDC electromagnetic dampers for improved ride quality.

Advanced Safety and Handling

A key innovation is the “triple-motor distributed all-wheel-drive” system, enabling precise torque control across all four wheels. This system not only facilitates advanced maneuvers but also enhances safety. At speeds up to 120 km/h, it can actively counteract tyre blowouts, preventing loss of control by applying corrective yaw moments. This feature represents a significant advancement in vehicle stability technology.

The A800 demonstrates a clear trend toward tighter integration between automakers and tech companies, particularly in China’s EV market. This collaboration showcases how hardware and software are merging to create a more sophisticated driving experience.

The GAC Hyptec A800 represents a compelling offering for buyers seeking both performance and cutting-edge technology in a sedan format. Its focus on both comfort and safety, combined with Huawei’s ADS and smart cockpit, positions it as a serious contender in the increasingly competitive EV landscape.
