The updated Niro will retain the current model’s range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fully electric (EV) powertrains. The hybrid version combines a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a dual-clutch transmission, delivering 127 horsepower and up to 64.2 mpg.
The PHEV variant boasts an 11.1 kWh battery, increasing power to 168 horsepower and offering a pure electric range of 40 miles. The EV model features a 64.8 kWh battery and a 201 horsepower motor, providing a range of 285 miles. However, it’s worth noting that the newer Kia EV3 offers a longer range of up to 375 miles with faster charging times, highlighting the rapid advancements in electric vehicle technology.

The refreshed Kia Niro will slot into the brand’s SUV lineup between the Stonic and the Seltos. The updated model is expected to arrive in the UK before the end of the year, with further details to be revealed in March.
