Lotus For Me: A 939-HP Hybrid Hyper-SUV

19

Lotus has unveiled a high-performance plug-in hybrid version of its Eletre SUV, dubbed the “For Me,” specifically for the Chinese market. The vehicle combines a turbocharged engine with an electric powertrain to deliver exceptional power and range.

Powertrain and Performance

The Lotus For Me uses a new X-Hybrid architecture, featuring a 900-volt electrical system, a 70 kWh battery pack, and dual electric motors. This configuration produces a combined output of 939 horsepower, exceeding even the all-electric Eletre R model. The hybrid system is augmented by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for extended range and backup power.

Performance figures are aggressive:
– 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.3 seconds
– 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 10.5 seconds
– Quarter-mile in 11.16 seconds

Electric Range and Charging

The For Me boasts an impressive electric range of 260 miles (418 km), with a combined hybrid range exceeding 870 miles (1,400 km). Fuel consumption under WLTP testing is reported at just 0.07 l/100 km, although real-world results may vary.

The battery supports ultra-fast 6C charging, capable of reaching 30–80% capacity in approximately eight minutes. This rapid charging capability is critical for maximizing convenience for hybrid drivers.

Design and Features

Visually, the For Me closely resembles the standard Eletre, with minor exterior changes: fresh badges, functional exhaust pipes, and additional cooling vents. The vehicle retains the advanced suspension and active roll control systems found in the Eletre, including dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve adaptive dampers.

Weight remains comparable to the all-electric Eletre, ranging from 2,575 kg (5,676 lbs) to 2,626 kg (5,789 lbs), depending on the configuration. This minimal weight increase is notable considering the added complexity of the hybrid powertrain.

Market Availability

The Lotus For Me will first launch in China this month, followed by Europe in mid-2026. North America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and other regions will receive the hyper-SUV before the end of the year.

The Lotus For Me represents a significant step forward in hybrid performance SUVs. By combining high power output with long-range capability and rapid charging, it addresses key concerns of EV skeptics while retaining the thrill of internal combustion.
