Renault Group has announced a significant increase in global sales for 2025, demonstrating a strong recovery for the manufacturer across its Renault, Dacia, and Alpine brands. The company sold a total of 2,336,807 units worldwide, marking continued momentum in key markets.
European Strength Drives Overall Growth
Renault’s core brand led sales with approximately 1.6 million units sold in Europe, representing a 3.2% year-over-year increase. Dacia followed closely, nearly reaching 700,000 units sold with a 3.1% rise. This performance underscores the continued demand for affordable and practical vehicles in the European market, where both brands maintain strong positions.
Alpine Sees Explosive Growth
The performance-focused Alpine brand experienced the most dramatic growth, with sales soaring by 139.2%. This surge is largely attributed to the full-year availability of the A290 hot hatchback, complementing the established A110 sports car. While impressive, this figure should be considered in context, as it reflects the addition of a second key model line.
Electric and Hybrid Sales Surge
A key driver of Renault’s success is the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The company reported 151,000 EV sales, a substantial 72.2% increase compared to 2024. Similarly, Dacia’s hybrid powertrains saw a remarkable 121% growth, contributing to a 2.9% overall sales boost in Europe. This trend reflects the broader shift towards electrified mobility.
Future Growth Fueled by New Models
Renault is poised for further expansion with the upcoming launch of the highly anticipated Twingo EV, priced competitively at around €13,750 (approximately £11,900) in France after incentives. The UK market can expect a price tag of roughly £17,500 when the model arrives in 2026. Additional launches include a facelifted Megane E-Tech and a new range of electric commercial vans, including the Trafic.
Clio and Sandero Dominate European Charts
Despite phasing out left-hand-drive production, the Renault Clio remained a top seller in Europe, securing the second spot in the sales rankings. The Dacia Sandero took the lead, giving the Renault Group a dominant one-two finish. The all-new sixth-generation Clio is expected to maintain this momentum.
Expanding Lineup Across All Brands
Dacia will introduce an even more affordable electric city car and a hybrid-powered estate model, challenging competitors in the C-segment. Alpine is also gearing up for expansion with the A390 crossover and an all-electric A110 sports car slated for release mid-year.
Renault’s strong 2025 performance indicates a successful restructuring and a strategic focus on electrification and value-driven models. The upcoming launches and continued growth in key markets position the company for sustained success in the coming years.
