Volvo is updating its all-electric EX90 SUV for the 2026 model year, introducing a more affordable single-motor variant and significant performance upgrades for higher trims. These changes include a new entry-level price point, faster charging capabilities, and a substantial horsepower increase for the top-tier model.
New Entry Point: Single-Motor RWD Model
The biggest change is the addition of a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor EX90, which starts at $78,090. This brings the SUV’s base price under $80,000, making it more accessible to buyers considering electric luxury SUVs. The single-motor configuration delivers 329 horsepower, offering a balance between efficiency and performance.
Performance Upgrades Across the Lineup
The EX90 Twin Motor, the mid-range option, now boasts 449 horsepower (up from 402 previously) and starts at $81,390. But the most dramatic update is reserved for the Twin Motor Performance model, which now produces an impressive 670 horsepower – a leap from the previous 510 horsepower. This high-performance variant is priced at $86,390.
Battery and Charging Improvements
Volvo has also revised the EX90’s battery packs for 2026. While official EPA range estimates are still pending, the Twin Motor variant will utilize a slightly smaller 102-kWh battery, which Volvo anticipates will result in a minor range reduction from 310 to 305 miles. The update also includes a move to an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling faster charging times.
These changes position the EX90 as a competitive player in the growing luxury electric SUV segment, offering a wider range of options for buyers seeking both practicality and performance. The combination of a lower entry price, increased horsepower, and faster charging makes the 2026 EX90 a notable upgrade over its predecessor.
