Changan, the Chinese automotive manufacturer, is preparing to launch its E06 electric crossover in the United Kingdom by early 2027. This vehicle represents a significant move by Changan to expand its presence in the European EV market, directly competing with established models like the BYD Atto 3, Citroën ë-C3 Aircross, and the upcoming Kia EV4.
Key Specifications and Performance
The E06 is designed as a mid-size crossover, measuring 4.44 meters in length and 1.86 meters in width. It will feature a single front-mounted electric motor producing 268 horsepower. The vehicle is powered by a 61.7 kilowatt-hour lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, providing an official range of 280 miles (approximately 450 kilometers) on a single charge.
Charging capabilities include support for DC fast charging up to 162kW and AC charging at up to 11kW. This allows for quick replenishment at compatible charging stations.
Interior and Practicality
Changan emphasizes the E06’s interior as being tailored to European preferences. The crossover boasts a large, centrally-mounted 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, paired with a 10.2-inch digital instrument display. However, the design notably lacks physical buttons for essential controls like climate settings, a trend increasingly common in modern EVs.
Despite this minimalist approach, the E06 prioritizes practicality. It offers generous rear knee room at 800mm and a spacious 545-liter boot, making it competitive in terms of passenger and cargo space.
Pricing and Warranty
While official pricing remains unconfirmed, Changan positions the E06 as its entry-level model in the UK. Based on the pricing of the larger Deepal S05 and S07 SUVs (starting at £39,990), the E06 is expected to begin around £30,000.
To build consumer confidence, Changan will offer a comprehensive seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the vehicle, with the battery specifically covered for eight years or 124,000 miles.
The arrival of the Changan E06 signals the growing competition in the EV crossover segment, particularly from Chinese manufacturers
