Alfa Romeo has finally spoken.
After the noise of Stellantis’ Investor Day in 2026 the brand clarified its path. The plan involves updating the Junior. A new C-segment family hatch is coming too. Then there are the Giulia and Stelvio replacements.
But the big reveal? It’s the C-SUV.
The new vehicle sits on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform. Same bones as the Peugeot 3008 or the Vauxhall Grandland. Even the Lancia Gamma uses it. This means flexibility. Pure electric? Sure. Hybrid? Also on the table. Alfa calls it a “multi-energy” car. Practical enough for a daily driver. Sporty enough to claim it is “a true Alfa Romeo”.
Made in Italy. That phrase carries weight. They promise interior quality and driving pleasure. Promises are easy. Delivery is harder.
Then there is the STLA One platform. It is a new name for something likely old at heart. A revision of the modular STLA Small and Large architectures? Probably. It spans from small B-segment cars like the Peugeot 208 right up to big D-segment SUVs.
The tech here is where things get interesting. Cell-to-body integration merges the battery with the chassis. Rigid structure. Lower costs. Steer-by-wire joins the party too. We saw this in the Peugeot Polygon concept. Cold and clinical? Maybe. But Alfa will likely tweak the settings. They know how to make a car feel alive.
The premium nature of Alfa means it won’t just be off-the-shelf tech. Expect the ‘STLA Brain’ computer to control powertrain and chassis systems all in one place. Centralized command. Efficient. Then there is ‘Smartcockpit’. The voice commands. The screens. All tailored specifically for Alfa drivers. Bespoke interfaces for a brand that still cares about how things feel.
Another teaser dropped during the presentation. The ‘Bottega Fuoriserie’ project. Think limited-edition halo car. Like the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradal but perhaps more useful. The cover showed a high bonnet line. A hatchback rear end. It looks like it could actually fit groceries. We’ll see in a year.
Patience isn’t always a virtue. Especially when you just want to drive now. The Junior is available today. The Junior Electric, even.
Average savings of £1,200 are currently sitting in your pocket if you buy through Auto Express Buy A Car. You can have the electric performance. Or you can wait for the new SUV to drop.
“The new C-SUV is not just about getting from A to B. It’s about the journey.”
Or you could just buy the Junior and stop waiting. What are you actually going to do?
